STEAD JOINS BRADFORD ON LOAN

17 October 2014

Striker moves to League 1 Bantams until January

Huddersfield Town striker Jonathan Stead has joined Sky Bet League 1 side Bradford City on an Emergency Loan until 3 January 2015.

This is the second loan spell at the Coral Windows Stadium for the 31 year-old striker, who joined the Bantams on Emergency Loan in March 2014 and went onto start eight games, scoring once.

Huddersfield Town has a standard recall option clause on Jon’s loan move after the initial 28 days.

Stead re-joined Huddersfield Town on a free transfer in the summer of 2013 from relegated Bristol City after starting his career at ‘The Yorkshire Club’.

In his second spell at the Club he has made a total of 10 starts and 13 substitute appearances, scoring three goals.

The striker is a graduate of the Club’s Academy and scored 22 goals in 54 league games during his first spell before joining Premier League Blackburn for £1.25m.

His current contract at Huddersfield Town expires at the end of the 2014/15 season.

Huddersfield Town Manager Chris Powell explained:

“Jon wants to play regular first team football and given Bradford City’s proximity to his family home, this move is a good one for him.

“We’re currently well stocked for striking options thanks to the return to fitness of Martin Paterson and the form of Grant Holt and Nahki Wells, so Jon’s loan move also suited the Club.”
