PERFECT TEN FOR TOWN’S U21s

20 January 2014

Bunn, Holmes, Sinnott and Atkinson all net

Huddersfield Town’s Development Squad made it ten successive victories in the Under-21 Professional Development League with a comprehensive 4-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

The Terriers’ January recruit Joe Lolley made his first appearance in Town colours alongside Cristian Lopez and Harry Bunn, who had joined Town permanently today – click HERE.

There were also starts for Matt Crooks and Jake Carroll who had both been out through injury, while Duane Holmes partnered Anton Robinson in midfield.

Town’s Spanish striker Cristian was the first to threaten, forcing a fine save from Wednesday stopper Adam Davies. At the other end, Ian Bennett was called into his first act of the half in the 16th minute to keep out Paul Corry’s fierce left footed drive.

Jake Carroll drove at Davies just after the half hour mark before Wednesday took the led courtesy of Corry, who touched home Ayo Obileye’s effort from an Adam Hinchliffe corner.

Town were level before half-time though, when Harry Bunn fired home Jordan Sinnott’s low cross.

Joe Lolley showed plenty of promise throughout and was twice foiled before Duane Holmes gave Town the lead in the 68th minute, slotting home after racing on to a through ball.

Sinnott’s penalty after Cristian had been fouled made it 3-1 before Chris Atkinson rounded off the scoring.

Town’s team (4-3-3):

Ian Bennett; Jake Carroll, Joe Wright (Will Boyle, 85), Matt Crooks, Jordan Sinnott; Duane Holmes (Paul Mullin, 75), Anton Robinson (Philip Billing, 80), Chris Atkinson; Harry Bunn, Joe Lolley, Cristian Lopez
