There wasn’t much to shout about for Huddersfield Town during September, but the month did bring the Club’s Goal of the Season.
Joel Lynch’s 66th minute strike from all of 30 yards during the home victory against Charlton scooped him the Goal of the Season accolade at the recent Annual Awards Ceremony.
The defender’s strike against the Addicks earned Town their only win of the month with three draws and a defeat following. The month did see Duane Holmes hit the scene with two fantastic substitute cameos against Hull City in the Capital One Cup and Blackpool.
Doncaster (H)
Saturday 14 September 2013
Huddersfield Town maintained their unbeaten start on home soil with an entertaining draw against Yorkshire rivals Doncaster Rovers.
Both teams had plenty of chances to score, but it was a day for the ‘keepers as both Alex Smithies and Ross Turnbull made vital interceptions to keep out the opposition.
Joel Lynch had arguably the best chance of the game when he rattled the woodwork at the far post with minutes of the match remaining.

Charlton (H)
Tuesday 17 September 2013
Joel Lynch put his name in the frame for the goal of the season award with a 35 yard thunderbolt in Town’s 2-1 victory over Charlton.
The defender’s goal, his second of the season, came after James Vaughan had scored his ninth on the stroke of half-time.
Charlton gave Town a scare though, when Cameron Stewart fired a sweet strike past Alex Smithies; thankfully for Town they held firm to maintain their unbeaten start to the season on home soil.

Blackburn (A)
Saturday 21 September 2013
Town gained their first point in seven trips to Ewood Park courtesy of a tightly-contested goalless draw with Blackburn Rovers.
With much made of the goal-scoring prowess of strikers Jordan Rhodes and James Vaughan in the build-up, it was ironic that no goals were scored in Lancashire on an afternoon of few clear-cut chances.

Hull – Capital One Cup (A)
Tuesday 24 September 2013
Nick Proschwitz’s second half strike was just enough to settle a tight Capital One Cup Third Round tie at the KC Stadium.
The Terriers matched their Premier League opponents stride for stride over the 90 minutes and only a poor piece of marking allowed the German to fire Hull into the next round.

Blackpool (H)
Friday 27 September 2013
James Vaughan’s fairy tale start to the 2013/14 Sky Bet Championship continued with the equaliser against Blackpool, to take his tally to ten goals in eleven games.
He and Town needed some inspiration, though, and they found it in 18 year-old Duane Holmes who leaped from the bench to provide the striker with a superb assist.
Ricardo Fuller had earlier put Blackpool ahead with a well taken finish as the visitors bossed the opening 45, during which Vaughan had a goal chalked off for offside.
