SCANNELL IN IRELAND U21 SQUAD

30 July 2012

Sean to miss Preston clash for Euro qualifier

Town winger Sean Scannell has been called up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21 squad for their forthcoming UEFA 2013 European Championship qualifier against Turkey.

The match is set to take place at The Showground in Sligo on Tuesday 14 August and as a result Sean will miss Town’s Capital One Cup game at Preston North End.

Sean was born in Croydon, London, but qualifies for the Republic of Ireland through his father, who was born in the country. To date Scannell has nine under-21 caps to add to his appearance for Ireland B; he has also been called up to the senior squad, but has yet to be capped at that level.
