England Under-21 defender arrives for the season
Huddersfield Town has today completed the signing of Jack Robinson on a season-long loan from Premier League Queens Park Rangers.
The left back, who turns 21 on Monday, completed a permanent transfer to the London club from Liverpool for a significant undisclosed fee earlier today and has immediately joined the Terriers on a Standard Loan for the season.
Jack has also been called up to the England Under-21 squad again today, when he could add to his nine existing caps in upcoming Euro qualifiers against Lithuania and Moldova. He’s been capped at every level from Under-16 up to Under-21 level.
As well as 11 First Team appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League, Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup, Jack already has good experience of the Sky Bet Championship gained through two loan spells; he made 11 starts for Wolves in the 2012/13 season and played a further 36 games for Blackpool last term.
Huddersfield Town’s Caretaker Manager Mark Lillis welcomed Jack to ‘The Yorkshire Club’:
“We are delighted to add more defensive strength to the squad. Jack is a player that the Club has tracked for some time, but we have needed to be patient to wait for the deal to complete.
“We have been able to move quickly in the last few days to bring Jack to the Club thanks to the great work that goes on behind the scenes; that makes it possible for the Manager to determine the targets but not have to deal with the detail of doing the transfers. We learned early that Jack would become available once his permanent move across the Premier League to QPR was completed and acted upon it.
“He was impressive last season on loan at Blackpool and our Assistant Manager Steve Thompson, who worked closely with him there, speaks very highly of his qualities. Everything we’ve learned and heard about Jack has been positive.
“We have a good relationship with Liverpool and they have spoken in glowing terms about Jack, whilst Harry Redknapp clearly sees him as someone who can go on to do well for QPR in the Premier League in the future.
“Jack’s arrival strengthens our options at left back alongside Paul Dixon, who has played every minute so far this season.
“I am in constant dialogue with the Chairman and the Board and they have been supportive of me and the staff in our assessment of the squad. Conor Coady and Jacob Butterfield are excellent recent additions and hopefully Jack can be too.
“We will continue to look at opportunities in the transfer market, irrespective of whether it’s before Monday’s permanent transfer deadline or - just as importantly – when the loan window opens seven days later.”
Jack will wear the number 17 shirt during his time at Huddersfield Town. He will train with the Town squad on Friday morning and has been named in the travelling squad for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game at Watford.
