Wilczynski, Holmes & Mullin sign up
Three Huddersfield Town Academy players who were offered their first professional contracts at the conclusion of the 2012/13 season have agreed contracts at the Club.
Goal-scoring midfielder Duane Holmes has signed a two year contract running until the summer of 2015, with the Club having an option on a further year.
American born, the 18 year-old moved to Wakefield at the age of four and played for junior clubs Kellingley Welfare and Normanton Athletic before joining Town at under-9 level.
Having finished top scorer for Frankie Bunn and Tony Carss’ Under-18 side last season with 16 goals in 24 starts, Holmes also made an impact at senior level during 2012/13. He netted one goal in nine appearances for the Under-21 side and appeared as an unused substitute for the First Team during the FA Cup tie at home to Leicester City in January 2013. He was also named ‘Academy Player of the Year’ at the 2013 Annual Awards Ceremony.
Striker Paul Mullin has signed a one year contract that will run until the summer of 2014.
Previously on the books of Everton, Liverpool and Spanish side Racing Santander, Mullin joined Town last summer and made a real impact during the 2012/13 season – netting 14 goals in 25 starts for Town’s Under-18s and also making four substitute appearances for the Under-21 side.
Goalkeeper Ed Wilczynski has also signed a one year contract.
A player with Polish and Irish heritage, he played junior football for Collegians in Salendine Nook before joining Town at Under-14 level. He made 26 appearances for Town at Under-18 level last season and also made his Under-21 debut.
Centre back Joe Wright has also been retained and is continuing his rehabilitation from a long-term leg injury.
The quartet will now work as part of Senior Professional Development Coach Steve Eyre’s Under-21 squad.
