Striker aiming to force his way in
Huddersfield Town striker Harry Bunn is hoping to feature in Mark Robins’ First Team this season – and he opened his case in good style with a goal at Guiseley.
Bunn impressed in attack alongside Duane Holmes and Martin Paterson and netted the games second goal when he fired home from Holmes’ slide-rule pass (click HERE to view the highlights).
The former Manchester City youngster, who is the son of Town’s Senior Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn, netted eight goals in eleven games during the latter half of last season as the Development Squad lifted the U21 Professional Development League 2 North title.
He also made three substitute appearances for the First Team last term and his aim moving forward is to force his way into Mark Robins’ plans.
“My main goal is to force my way into the First Team,” Harry said. “The Club is moving forward and hopefully I can be a part of its future.
“When I joined the Club I was returning from a serious injury, so I had to find my feet and get up to speed. I thought I played well for the Development Squad though, and when I featured for the First Team I don’t think I let myself down. Hopefully this year I can impress and make a few more appearances at First Team level.”
Harry is currently experiencing his first pre-season with the Terriers and a familiar face has made the hard work that little bit easier!
“I have really enjoyed it so far and Portugal was a good trip,” the 21 year-old explained. “Al Stewart, who is now a part of the coaching setup, is someone that I know from my Manchester City days; it is nice to work with him again.
“I feel like I have integrated well; we are a very close group and everyone gets on really well. The games come thick and fast in the Championship and it is important that we stick together.”
Bunn has Football League experience courtesy of loans at Sheffield United, Crewe and Preston and he showed his adaptability on Monday night at Guiseley by playing from an attacking left position.
“I enjoy playing in that role; during the majority of my loan spells I played in that position,” he said. “I do prefer to play through the middle, but I am happy to adapt and play anywhere in attack. It was nice to get my first goal in one of the opening games and hopefully I can keep adding to the tally. If and when an opportunity comes in the First Team I want to be able to take it.”
