DEVELOPMENT DUO SET FOR RADCLIFFE

7 December 2012

Crooks and Burke loaned out to get games

Huddersfield Town Development Squad duo Matt Crooks and James Burke are today set to join Radcliffe Borough on loan until 12 January 2013 inclusive.

Both regulars in Senior Professional Development coach Steve Eyre’s Under-21 side this season, the teenage pair will join the Evo-Stik League Northern Premier First Division North side ahead of its game at Salford City on Saturday.

With Town’s next fixture in the Under-21 Professional Development League not scheduled until 16 January, Crooks and Burke follow midfielder Jordan Sinnott out on loan in order to continue their development – he joined Blue Square Bet North side Altrincham during the week (click HERE for full info).

“This is another challenge for the two lads - one that we think will be a positive experience in a really good environment,” Senior Professional Development Coach Steve Eyre told htafc.com.

“We’ve looked at the possible clubs to give the lads the ideal sporting challenge and, most importantly, the additional match experience that we can’t give them over the next four weeks. Radcliffe is only 25 minutes away and I know their Director Kevin Glendon, who has been at the Club for many years and knows all about nurturing young talent. Frankie Bunn and I actually played with him at the end of our careers and we know the environment Matt and James are stepping into is a good footballing one.

“It’s a shame that our games programme shuts down for nearly a month now, because we believe Matt and James are ready to continue their development. Hopefully they will come back better for the experience.”

Radcliffe currently sit 19th in the division with 13 points from their opening 16 games of the season. Town’s Development Squad played a pre-season friendly against them at Stainton Park back in early August, winning 3-0 – with Crooks netting one of the goals.

This will be midfielder Crooks’ second spell out on loan, following on from a two month stay at Blue Square Bet North club FC Halifax Town last season. Meanwhile, this will be defender Burke’s first taste of First Team football.
