ATKINSON RETURNS TO TOWN

26 November 2012

Midfielder’s impressive loan spell at Chesterfield ends

Huddersfield Town midfielder Chris Atkinson’s loan spell at npower League 2 side Chesterfield came to an end at the weekend.

The 20 year-old Academy graduate will now return to Huddersfield Town ahead of Tuesday night’s npower Championship game at Middlesbrough, having made 16 appearances and scored five goals for the Spireites.

The second month of his loan spell came to an end after Chesterfield’s 1-0 win at Plymouth Argyle on Saturday and he will now return to the Club at a time where midfield colleagues Adam Clayton (five yellow cards) and Keith Southern (red card at Charlton on Saturday) are suspended.

Huddersfield Town Manager Simon Grayson explained Chris’ recall to htafc.com:

“Chris has done very well during his loan spell at Chesterfield. We’ve monitored him very closely and the loan spell has been perfect for his personal development; exactly what we wanted.

“We believe that it is now the correct time to bring him back to Huddersfield Town and the challenge for him is to now break into our First Team. Chris will travel with the squad for Tuesday night’s game at Middlesbrough.”
