Huddersfield Town given ‘Special Recognition Award’ by charity partner
Charity partner the Yorkshire Air Ambulance hosted its 8th Annual Awards evening last week – and bestowed Huddersfield Town with the ‘Special Recognition Award’.
The award, which was presented by Paul Gowland, YAA Director of Fundraising, and Neil Jowsey, Joint Managing Director of award sponsor Arco, was given to the Club to recognise the continued support and work with the charity.
Town’s Supporter Partnerships Manager, Robyn Deegan, is pictured above receiving the award and commented:

The Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a fantastic charity which the Club will continue to support, and I would like to thank everyone that has played a part in supporting both the YAA and our Academy through the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign since our partnership began."
The YAA’s Annual Awards evening is organised to acknowledge all of the YAA’s volunteers, fundraisers, corporate sponsors, and local media organisations who continue to raise funds and awareness for the charity.
As well as the award the Club received, there were seven other categories; volunteer awards, organisations and supporters, corporate supporters, media support award, outstanding partnership and the Chairman’s Award.
Huddersfield Town has worked alongside the Yorkshire Air Ambulance since 2009 when Dean Hoyle became Chairman.
Together the two organisations created the ‘Keep It Up’ campaign; an innovative, first of its kind partnership between the charity and a sporting club.
From every pound raised, 50p goes to the charity and 50p goes towards the running of the Club’s Academy.
One of the main fundraisers for the scheme has been the ‘Pedal for Pounds’ bike rides. Over the first five years of the partnership, a cumulative total of around 1,000 fans have pedalled up and down the county in five separate rides to raise money for the cause.

Alongside Robyn, Huddersfield Town was represented at the awards by Club Ambassador Andy Booth and Academy staff members including Academy Manager Mark Lillis, Professional Development Coaches Tony Carss and Leigh Bromby and Goalkeeping Coach Ian Bennett.
