Fantastic response from Schools Focus Match
1,577 local school children and their families came to watch the Terriers take on Wigan Athletic on Saturday through the Club’s latest ‘Schools Focus’ initiative.
The tickets were sold via 85 local schools, which all earned cashback through the scheme whilst allowing pupils and their parents to watch the game at a discounted rate.
The Club’s ever-popular Club Ambassador Andy Booth, and players Matt Crooks and Duane Holmes also paid a special visit to the north end of the ground to welcome the families to the match.
Face painters were on hand to paint the children blue and white.
School Partner Copley Primary School formed the Guard of Honour as the teams entered the field of play.
To complement the Schools Focus initiative, Town also held another ‘Terrier 7s’ presentation, with several youngsters receiving their replica shirt from Duane Holmes at half time.
Also at half time Meltham CE Primary School and St Patricks Catholic Primary School took part in the Under 11 Community Cup Final, the match was 1 – 1 after 8 minutes therefore penalties were needed after first team game. Meltham came out the winners and will now go on to represent Huddersfield Town in the u11 Community Cup Northern Finals.
So far this season over £5,000 has been given back to schools via the School Focus match cashback initiative with 4,012 children and their families coming along to watch Town.
Town’s next Schools Focus game will be the home clash with Bolton Wanderers on Saturday 5 April.
Terry the Terrier also welcomed the Forget Me Not Children’s Hospice mascot, ‘Russell’ to the game. The match was used by the Forget Me Not Children’s hospice to highlight the fantastic work they do in the community. The charity sold tickets through their outlets in the area for the match which earned cashback for the Hospice.
