Jordan Barker in final selection process for Under-18s

A superb first season for Huddersfield Town’s Futsal team could be capped with an England Under-18 call-up.

Town futsal player Jordan Barker has reached the final selection process for the England Futsal U18 team, which will take place in Newcastle on Saturday 8 June.

His Huddersfield teammates Adam Dyson and Sam Lawrence are on the stand-by list for the Three Lions too.

All three play for the Huddersfield Town Futsal A Team, which recently won the North West Division League 1 title after remaining unbeaten throughout the entire season, sealing the Championship with a superb 9-1 win over Rotherham United on Wednesday 8 May. Throughout the season, the Terriers scored more than double the amount of goals than any other team in the division and conceded the fewest.

As well as the action on the pitch, Town’s Futsal players complete a BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport; a two year programme for 16-18 year olds who wish to pursue a career in sport. The 2012/13 academic year was the first time Town’s Community Department launched this qualification and the team is now in the process of enrolling new students to start in September

If you are interested, email Nigel Thewlis via nigel.thewlis@thezone.uk.com or call 01484 484 155 for further details. The course allows a pathway to university and further study and lays the foundation for a career in sport.
