Busy month for the Ambassador
It is over a month since my last Community Round-Up and I have been kept busy!
I visited a variety of places and met a number of different people, but I will start as always with the Club’s School and Club partnership presentations.
Thornhill J & I School were very welcoming when I went to present them with their School Partnership plaque (picture below).
I also presented a Club partnership plaque to the Communities United Project (picture above).
If anyone reading this is involved at a school or junior sports club – not just football but any sport – I’d urge you to have a look at how our partnership can benefit you. On top of player visits and the special plaque, you also get the chance earn cashback on tickets you sell to our games, which you can use to buy vital equipment. I know how scarce money is at amateur level and this really could help.
One of our existing School Partners, South Crosland Junior School, took advantage of the partnership and visited the Club’s Success Centre at the John Smith’s Stadium. I gave them a guided tour of the Stadium, whilst goalkeeper Lloyd Allinson dropped into their session in the Success Centre.
I also paid a visit to Hartshead Manor Care Home to visit former player Ernest Womersley; I delivered a gift bag on behalf of the football club.
My month has also consisted of the latest Charity signing day, which I helped assist; I also hosted the second Canalside quiz night (keep checking htafc.com for information regarding the third event) as well as attending the All Together Town Voices Panel meeting on Wednesday 19 March.
My Round-Up ends back in the Huddersfield Town Success Centre with our Supporter Partnership Executive Rachel Taylor. We helped students of the Nexus Project to gain valuable experience and practise by sitting down and doing mock interviews.
The Nexus project is run by Kirklees Council in partnership with local employers and secondary schools. It targets year 11 students who would benefit from a year of work experience in their area of interest, combined with a BTEC qualification in employability skills. HTAFC Success Centre staff members Jeanette Palmer and Emma Fox have been supporting the students in their BTEC coursework and this has involved identifying strengths and weaknesses and short and long term goals.
