EXCITEMENT OFF THE FIELD v BRISTOL

Fire Service a big hit at Club Focus match

Huddersfield Town held its first ‘Club Focus’ match of the 2012/13 season during Saturday’s win over Bristol City – and the West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service helped to make it a day to remember!

Just fewer than 300 tickets were sold through 17 of Town’s Club Partners for the game against the Robins and junior fans will have been thrilled to see a Fire Engine on site outside the Direct Golf UK Stand to have a look around pre-match!

One Club – Skelmanthorpe United Junior Football Club – even helped welcome Town’s players onto the pitch by forming the prestigious pre-match ‘Guard of Honour’ as both teams entered the field of play.

The aforementioned Fire Engine was provided by Club Partner West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS), who were an integral part of the off-the-field fun at the weekend. As well as bringing their Fire Engine to the game, their fighters performed the flag-bearing as the players entered the field of play and they also hosted a half-time ‘fire drill’ game that provided plenty of laughs for spectators!

District Commander Keith Robinson kindly performed the half-time Golden Gamble draw (click HERE for the results) and in return the Stadium Superstore is now selling the WYFRS’s fundraising calendar in store, called ‘Red Hot Dates’, which raises money for the Fire Fighters Charity, The Laila Milly Foundation and Town’s Charity Partner the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

Elsewhere the latest ‘Terrier 7s’ presentation took place pre-match, introducing the latest batch of new fan to ‘The Yorkshire Club’. Town star James Vaughan handed out discounted shirts and match tickets to the next generation of local seven year-olds. If you want more information on the ‘Terrier 7s’ or to enrol, please contact Hilary Horsfall on 01484 484112 or email hilary.horsfall@htafc.com

The suspended Jack Hunt kicked the day off in style at a packed Canalside Sports Complex for the now routine pre-match question and answer session before facing the crowd in the White Rose Club at the Stadium.
