One Game, One Community match on 11 January
Huddersfield Town will send out a message of inclusion when the team hosts Millwall at the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday 11 January.
The Club will use the match against the Lions as its dedicated ‘Town for All’ match, incorporating ‘Kick It Out’ in its anniversary that embraces the inclusive and multi-cultural nature of the English game involving supporters and players alike.
Huddersfield Town has been a proud supporter of the ‘Kick It Out’ campaign since its inception and was also among the first professional clubs to sign up to the ‘Football vs. Homophobia’ charter during March 2013; click HERE for full info.
Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens commented:
“Huddersfield Town is committed to this cause and this dedicated game will provide a platform for fans, players and staff to show our commitment to equality and inclusion in football.
“We want everyone to feel welcome at Huddersfield Town and want to come back time and time again. We’re proud of our hard-earned reputation as a community club and our ‘Town for All’ game will only further this status.”
Several community groups are expected to attend the game alongside several other organisations, with students from school partner Moor End Academy expected to form the flag-bearing guard of honour as both teams enter the field of play following their own ‘Kick It Out’ day, which was attended by Town’s Club Ambassador Andy Booth.
Town’s match day magazine, Give Us An H, will also include several features on inclusion. Cover star Murray Wallace will discuss the impact of the ‘Kick It Out’ campaign on football, whilst Town’s Head of Academy Recruitment Bryan Glover – whose daughter Krissie appeared over 100 times for Millwall Lionesses – discusses women’s football. There will also be details on an football programme the Club runs for fans with disabilities, known as the HTAFC ‘Ability Counts’ programme.
