HTAFC & IGLOO GIVE AWAY FREE BOOKS

7 March 2013

Books for under 10s at the Charlton game

On World Book Day Igloo Books, official Book Partner to Huddersfield Town, has announced that it will offer a free book to children under the age of 10 who attend the Club’s home game vs. Charlton Athletic on Saturday 9 March 2013.

Huddersfield Town formed its partnership with Igloo Books in 2012 with a focus on community literacy. In honour of World Book Day (7 March) Igloo Books has confirmed it will provide a free book to children under the age of 10 in the stadium during the Charlton Athletic match.

The books will be available on a first come, first served basis while stocks last from 1.30pm outside the Direct Golf Stand close to the ticket office, given out by the Town Family and Igloo representatives.

Supporter Partnerships Manager, Robyn Deegan, is delighted with the announcement:

“Igloo Books has been fantastic to work with and the backing they have showed to the World Book Day initiative is tremendous. We would like to welcome young fans of the Club and their parents to come over to the designated area to collect a book from us and enjoy the game against Charlton.

“We will continue to do the right thing by backing programmes to benefit the wider community and this offer to young fans is testament to what we are trying to achieve as a football club.”

Igloo Books is also heavily involved in the Reading Diaries project of the Huddersfield Town Foundation. There are plans in place to roll out the project to a wider audience in Kirklees next season. An energetic, customer-focused creator of fantastic quality and good value books, Igloo publishes a range of children’s and adult books. Igloo Books is the licensed brand owner of children’s favourite characters such as Tickety Toc, JCB, Humf, Humphrey’s Corner, Rachel Hale and Forever Friends.

To celebrate the book give away, Igloo Books are offering one lucky young Huddersfield Town fan the chance to win a personalised and signed Huddersfield Town shirt. John Styring, Managing Director of Igloo Books, said:

“I am thrilled to announce this free book offer with Huddersfield Town, with whom we enjoy a fantastic partnership. My team at Igloo Books passionately believe in the World Book Day initiative, and that everyone should have access to brilliant quality, interesting and - most of all - fun books. I can’t wait to give away our books to young football supporters. In fact, an afternoon of books and football sounds like a perfect afternoon – I hope it’s the start of many!”

Sean Jarvis, Huddersfield Town’s Commercial Director, commented:

“We are absolutely delighted that Igloo Books have, once again, backed us in our engagement with the fans with the provision of free books at the Charlton game. The gesture is generous and I would like to thank John and his team, on behalf of the Club, for their excellent support in helping make a difference to the Community we serve in.”
