TOWN REMEMBERS vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST

31 October 2014

Upcoming home fixture will be Town’s ‘Remembrance Game’

Huddersfield Town will use Saturday's Sky Bet Championship game at home to Nottingham Forest to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

The Club will pay its respects to the armed forces and the fantastic work they do to serve and protect our country.

A minute’s silence will be held before the game to remember those connected with Huddersfield Town who have made the ultimate sacrifice and personnel from all the Armed Forces have been invited down to the watch the game.

Also invited to the game are the existing family of Larrett Roebuck, the Huddersfield Town player who became the first footballer to lose his life in active service in World War One.

Members of the Royal British Legion will be in attendance around the ground selling poppies before taking part in a half-time parade with their standards.

Both teams will be greeted onto the pitch ahead of the 3pm kick-off by members of the 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, who will be Flag Bearing.

Huddersfield Town’s Communications Manager David Threlfall-Sykes commented:

“Huddersfield Town is a proud community club and we are looking forward to marking Remembrance Day at our upcoming home game against Nottingham Forest.

“In the centenary of the start of World War One, it is only fit and proper that the Club honours those who are currently serving and that have served in the Armed Forces, as well as those who are sadly no longer with us.

“I am sure both sets of fans will join us in paying respect to our servicemen and women at this game."

This follows on from last season’s ‘Remembrance Game’, which was held when Town hosted Birmingham City – click HERE for full details.

Town's players will also sport poppies on their shirts at the Sky Bet Championship game at Fulham on 8 November; the Club's nearest game to 2014 Remembrance Day.
