THOUSANDS WATCH FIREWORKS AT PPG CANALSIDE

27 October 2014

Great night had by all on Sunday

Over 2,100 people packed out Town’s PPG Canalside training ground for the Club’s first ever Fireworks Display on Sunday evening, held in association with Standard Fireworks.

With gates opening at 5.30pm, there was plenty in store for attendees over and above the spectacular fireworks display that closed out the evening in the skies above the facility in HD2.

Club partner Pulse1 brought its roadshow to the event, providing live entertainment including music from Jamie Sykes and some power hooping from the HD Hoopers!

There was also a full range of fun fair rides and attractions for all the family to enjoy on the evening.

Another of Town’s club partners, West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service, also attended the evening with an assortment of fire vehicles and to promote its new 2015 ‘Hot Dates’ calendar.

Town players Jacob Butterfield and Ed Wilczynski also dropped down to PPG Canalside to sign autographs and pose for pictures with Town supporters.

The Town duo and ‘Terry the Terrier’ also helped to get the firework display under way, taking to the Pulse1 stage alongside local youngster Joe Middleton; he had won the opportunity for designing an excellent poster to promote Fireworks Safety (click HERE for full info).

The superb fireworks display lasted 15 minutes and was synchronised to a medley of James Bond songs including Skyfall, Diamonds are Forever, Goldfinger and Live and Let Die.

Huddersfield Town’s Events Coordinator Katie Barraclough commented:

“I would like to thank the thousands of supporters and locals who came to PPG Canalside on Sunday evening and made the Club’s first Fireworks Display such an unmitigated success.

“Thanks must also go to our partner Standard Fireworks, who put on a breath-taking fireworks display to close out the evening.

“We’d have some absolutely fantastic feedback on the event, which makes it all worthwhile.”

Attendees have been waxing lyrical about the evening on Town’s social media channels:
