TOWN #FILLTHEFMLOWER!

3 March 2014

Campaigns, partnerships and singers to the fore on Saturday

Saturday was not only a triumph on the pitch for Huddersfield Town, but also off it as the Club celebrated everything Yorkshire.

The Club’s #FillTheFMLower campaign kicked off in good style with 863 Town fans cheering on the Terriers from behind the north stand goal.

Of those 863 fans, 213 were existing FM Lower Season Card holders; another 381 transferred to different areas of the ground and 146 didn’t attend on Saturday.

A further 314 fans entered the FM Lower using Season Cards from other areas of the ground; 219 from the Britannia Rescue Stand, 61 from the Fantastic Media Upper Tier, 29 from the Direct Golf UK Stand Lower Tier and 5 from the Direct Golf UK Stand Upper Tier.

The number was made up by fans buying tickets for the Barnsley game in the FM Lower; 224 adults, 95 Under-18s, 13 seniors and two ambulant disabled supporters, each with a carer.

Huddersfield Town Chief Executive Nigel Clibbens commented:

“I think everyone can see from the gallery of match pictures (click HERE) that fans in the Fantastic Media Lower Tier had a great time.

“From my seat in the Direct Golf UK Stand, I thought the match day atmosphere was much improved. I’ve spoken to the Manager and several players and they all agreed.

“I’m looking forward to seeing the detailed feedback we will gather from fans over the coming weeks.”

Manager Mark Robins was also impressed with the improved atmosphere; speaking after the match he said: “There was a better atmosphere; they sang their hearts out all game, I thought it was fantastic. It was a great atmosphere and I’m happy we gave them something to cheer about.”

Prior to kick-off there was some action to be had at PPG Canalside with Club Partner Brighouse Juniors enjoying a game of football on the 3G pitch. They also formed the Guard of Honour as both sets of players entered the pitch at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Also at PPG Canalside, there was a Yorkshire themed menu for supporters, whilst Chairman Dean Hoyle provided the entertainment as the Question and Answer guest.

Tenor Laurence Robinson, who has entertained fans during previous seasons, was in attendance and gave an operatic performance in the Spring Partner Suite and also on the pitch, rousing home fans in the run up to kick-off.

Additionally, prior to the match volunteers from the Yorkshire Air Ambulance raised awareness and money for the Keep it Up campaign. Generous fans from both clubs raised £1,105.71 for the YAA to the Keep It Up campaign – click HERE if you would like to donate now.

Elsewhere, the Dizzy Penalty half-time game provided the usual entertainment, whilst World Cup winner and former Terrier Ray Wilson was the guest of honour and selected the Golden Gamble results (click HERE to view) as well as launching the 2014 World Cup draw (click HERE for full info).
