Town youngsters miss out on play off spot

Huddersfield Town’s U18 team drew 3-3 with their Coventry counterparts at PPG Canalside this morning.

Huddersfield Town’s team lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation and started the game brightly against the youngsters from the Ricoh Arena.

Town took the lead after 20 minutes through Jack Boyle and nine minutes later went 2-0 up, with Boyle getting his second of the game.

At half time, Town were 2-0 up, but news of Sheffield United’s U18s being 4-0 up in their respective game meant that the young terriers had a lot to do in the second half to qualify for the playoffs.

The second half started with Coventry scoring early to reduce the deficit to 2-1 and equalised fourteen minutes later to make it 2-2.

Town pushed forwards and managed to get ahead again through substitute Dom Tear. The young terriers couldn’t hold on, and with around 10 minutes to go, Coventry equalised to make it 3-3. News came through that Sheffield United’s team won 7-1, meaning that the U18s’ dream of the play offs were over for another year.
