Charles nets hat-trick in thumping away win

Town’s Under-18 side maintained their 100% start to the season with a resounding 5-2 away win at Sheffield Wednesday in the Professional Development League 2 on Saturday morning.

Second year scholar Jake Charles (pictured) was the star of the show, netting a hat-trick to take his seasonal tally to four goals in as many appearances.

The other goals came from midfielder Ben Atkinson and a debut goal for striker Flo Bojaj, who came off the bench during the first-half.

Town took the lead inside 15 minutes, with Charles picking up a second ball following a long throw and striking the ball crisply into the top corner from 25 yards out.

The hosts equalised on the half hour mark, but the young Terriers struck back immediately upon the restart with a quick-fire brace. First midfielder Philip Billing found Ben Holmes with a pass and he slipped Charles in on goal, who finished with aplomb. Barely a minute later Town made it 3-1, with Bojaj's reverse pass playing Ben Atkinson into the box for his first goal of the season.

Charles completed his hat-trick to make it 4-1 early in the second-half, driving into the opposition half and hitting the net from range once again.

Striker Bojaj netted his first for the Club with 20 minutes left, slotting home centre back Joe Wilkinson's flick-on from Holmes' free-kick.

Wednesday scored a consolation goal with the final kick of the game.

Town’s team (4-2-3-1):
Ed Wilczynski; Mikey Starkey, William Boyle, Joe Wilkinson (c), Bradley Carroll (Danny Kane 80); Philip Billing, Ben Atkinson; Ben Holmes, Jake Charles, Regan Booty (Jack Boyle 80); Rekeil Pyke (Flo Bojaj 30)
