Under-18s book place in end of season Play-Offs
Town’s Under-18 team booked their place in the end of season Professional Development League Play-Offs with a resounding 4-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday at Canalside Sports Complex.
Going into the game the Owls were second in the League, but Town’s thumping victory – sealed with a superb first-half display – means that the young Terriers leapfrogged them from fourth to second place.
The first goal came in fortunate circumstances on the quarter hour mark when full back Bradley Carroll netted his debut goal at Under-18 level when a cross evaded everyone in the penalty area and dropped into the net.
The second came in quick-fire fashion just three minutes later when another cross from Carroll was expertly controlled by midfielder Ben Holmes in the area, who then span and fired home left footed.
The goal of the game came on the half hour mark when top scorer Duane Holmes buried an unstoppable volley past the visiting goalkeeper from nearly 30 yards out.
Town sealed the deal in the 49th minute when striker Paul Mullin lifted the ball over the advancing goalkeeper.
