Proud 100% home record ends

Town’s Under-18 side dropped their first home points of the 2013/14 season at Canalside this morning, losing 2-1 to visitors Sheffield United in a Yorkshire derby.

A competitive opening 45 minutes ended goalless. Town’s best chance of the half saw winger Regan Booty test the visiting goalkeeper, whilst full back Brad Carroll had to be alert to clear the Blades’ best chance off the line 10 minutes later.

However, the young Terriers didn’t take long to break the deadlock in the second period. Two minutes after the restart Town’s front two combined, with Jake Charles playing in striker Flo Bojaj; he finished coolly for his 11th goal in as many appearances this season.

Town were let off the hook barely three minutes later when a United player headed over the bar from two yards out, but after a period of pressure the visitors did equalise with 20 minutes left, firing home a rebound after an initial effort hit the post.

With ten minutes to go the Blades went ahead courtesy of a great strike from outside the area and despite good pressure from the Terriers until the final whistle, the equaliser didn’t come; Bojaj going closest with a 90th minute volley into the outside of the side-netting.
