MIDFIELDER WARDE JOINS TOWN ACADEMY

28 August 2014

16 year-old arrives from the Republic of Ireland

Teenage Irishman Sam Warde has joined the Huddersfield Town Academy to begin a two year scholarship with the Club.

The Limerick-born midfielder has completed his move from junior side Mungret Regional – the same junior club in Ireland that fellow Academy player Ronan Coughlan played for before his move to Limerick (click HERE for more info).

He will be a first year scholar in Town’s Academy during the 2014/15 season, working in the Under-18 group under Lead Professional Development Coach Tony Carss and Professional Development Coach Leigh Bromby.

Tony Carss explained:

“We’re delighted that we’re received full clearance for Sam to play for us after he agreed to join the Club in the summer. He is another exciting player identified through the Club’s scouting network.

“He is already very good technically in terms of receiving and passing; he has good awareness and always wants the ball. He’s also a good athlete, with scope for further development.

“We’ve already been working with Sam during pre-season and we’re excited about his potential. However, as with all young players, it will come down to how hard he works on the training pitch every day.”
