Town looking part-time Youth Phase coaches for U12 and U13 age groups

Huddersfield Town is looking to recruit self-motivated, committed, confident and knowledgeable individuals to join the Football Department in the position of Academy Part-Time Youth Development Phase Coach.  

The role of Academy Part-Time Youth Development Phase Coach is fundamental to the long-term vision of Huddersfield Town in helping to identify and develop elite players within its programme.

The role includes delivering the Youth Development Phase Curriculum within Youth Development (12-16) Phase.  The successful applicants will plan and evaluate all sessions undertaken, be required to upload the information onto the Premier League Player Management Tool (PMA), as part of our ongoing coach mentoring programme and in line with ISO audit requirements.  

The successful candidates will be expected to work on specific weekdays, weekday evenings and at weekends covering both training and/or the games programme.

The successful candidates will be required to have good knowledge of the game through playing experience and preferably have previous experience of coaching at Academy level.  

All applicants under the EPPP guidelines must hold or be working towards the following mandatory qualifications;

UEFA B Licence (or working towards this qualification)
FA Youth Award Modules 1, 2, & 3 (or working towards these qualifications)
Basic First Aid for Sport
FA Safeguarding Children
Member of the FA Licensed Coaches Club

JOB SPECIFICATION

Job Title: Part-time Youth Development Phase (YDP) Coach
Department: Academy
Position and reporting line: reporting to the Academy Manager and Lead YDP Coach

Purpose of role: to coach and develop YDP Players and prepare them for the Professional Development Phase (PDP) by delivery of the Academy Performance Plan (APP)

Key relationships: 
Internal - all Academy Staff together with Club Staff in particular the Lead YDP Coach, Academy Manager and Academy Management Team, and Academy Coaching Team (ACT)

External - Regulatory Bodies (FA Premier League, Football League, Football Association, Youth Phase Coaches at other Professional Football Clubs)

Overview/key tasks:

The YDP Coach shall:

• attended at least five hours of in service training each year.
• attend first aid training for Academy Coaches provided by the Football Association at least once every three years.
• be in possession of an up to date UEFA ‘B’ License together with an FA Youth Award.
• undertake Continued Professional Development organised by the Club
• coach players in the YDP in conjunction with the Academy Manager and Coach Developer and Lead YDP Coach.
• assist in the delivery of coaching sessions to players in the YDP and be present at their coaching sessions.  This may include evening sessions, day releases and weekends.
• attend and assist in the operation of the games programme for YDP.
• Deliver the training programme which fulfills the Academy Performance Plan (APP) and is compliant with the Elite Player Performance Plan (EPPP) for Category Two.
• ensure appropriate playing opportunities for all players in the YDP including contracted and Trialist players.
• monitor and assess players in the YDP in training and matches including maintenance and performance clock and/or other monitoring tools.
• work with the other coaches in the ACT to develop the APP and in particular the coaching philosophy.
• contribute and participate in continuing professional development of the ACT.
• contribute and participate in the scouting and recruitment process as required.
• complete admin tasks as required to fulfill the role.
• work closely with other members of the Academy team in the delivery of the APP and the YDP.
• liaise closely with the Lead YDP Coach to ensure the continuous development work and pathways into the PDP for players in the YDP.
• contribute to Parents’ Evenings, YDP Meetings and maintain a relationship with players and parents in the YDP.
• display high standards of behaviour and appearance and encourage the same from others.
• create a positive environment for player development.
• provide genuine care for each player as an individual striving to develop a rapport and relationship based on mutual trust and Club values and the Academy philosophy.
• attend Academy meetings as required.
• provide a safe environment in which the player can learn without fear of abuse consistent with the Club’s Education and Welfare philosophies.
• undertake other duties as directed by the Academy Manager, Technical Board or the Lead YDP Coach.
• be flexible with hours of work.
