TOWN DRAWS PALACE IN FA YOUTH CUP

7 November 2014

FA Youth Cup draws Town’s Under 18s against Crystal Palace

The draw for the FA Youth Cup Third Round was made today at Wembley, with Town’s Under-18 side drawn at home against Crystal Palace.

The clash will be the second time the sides have faced one another this season, after they played out an entertaining 4-4 draw in London in the first game of the season.

All the ties in the Third Round must be played by Saturday 20 December.

Managed by Professional Development Coach Tony Carss, Town’s youngsters will look to build upon their success of reaching the Quarter Final stage last year – the Club’s best run in the competition for 40 years.

The run to the Quarter Finals last year included wins over Luton Town, West Bromwich Albion and Manchester United before being knocked out by Fulham at Craven Cottage, who went on to play Chelsea in the Final.

The fixture will be Town’s first in the FA Youth Cup this season, as the Club’s Academy has Category 2 status and such clubs are not entered in to the competition until the Third Round.

Town’s youngsters have been in good form so far this term and sit third in the Professional Development League 2 with 20 points from their opening 10 games. They sit three points behind leaders Coventry City and have a game in hand on the table-toppers.

If you would like a closer look at Town’s Under 18s before the Youth Cup game, you can watch them in action on Saturday morning as they take on Coventry City at 11.30am at PPG Canalside.
