Five-star comeback from the young Terriers
After suffering their first defeat of the season last weekend, Town’s Under-18s hit back with aplomb at Canalside on Saturday with a thumping victory over visitors Crystal Palace.
A spell featuring four goals in five minutes sealed the game for the young Terriers before the half-hour mark, who made light of several injuries to secure all three points.
Palace started the game quite brightly, but Town soon took control of the game and netted their first of the afternoon in the 13th minute. Danny Kane, playing in central midfield on the afternoon, flicked the ball into the box and centre back William Boyle smashed it home gleefully for his third of the season
The second goal came from a set-piece in the 23rd minute. Under-16 winger Jack Boyle, making his first start for the Under-18s, played the free kick into the area, skipper Joe Wilkinson headed the ball on and Irish Under-17 international Kane converted for his first goal in Town colours.
That goal sparked a clinical five minute spell for the Terriers. Barely a minute later Town won the ball back from the restart and played Jake Charles in, who expertly rounded the visiting goalkeeper to make it three.
Three minutes later another goal came from another set piece, with Boyle’s excellent delivery being headed home by tall central midfielder Philip Billing.
Bojaj netted a cool finish to make it five a minute later to complete the scoring, although Town’s defence – led by goalkeeper Sam Guthrie – were made to work hard for their clean sheet by the Londoners.
