Bojaj and Ben Holmes score in hard-fought draw
Huddersfield Town’s Under-18 side finally lost its 100% record seven games into the Professional Development League season on Saturday morning, but showed tremendous character to come from behind twice to remain unbeaten.
In the first of four overnight stays to play sides from the PDL South, the Terriers showed great character to bring a point back from Ipswich Town after twice falling behind to the hosts.
Matt Clarke opened the scoring for Ipswich, turning and firing home after collecting Cory Galvin’s cross early in the first-half.
Town had chance to pull level when an Ipswich player was penalised for handball in the penalty area. Midfielder Philip Billing stepped up, but home ‘keeper Michael Crowe got across well to his left to save his spot kick.
The young Terriers didn’t have to wait long for their equaliser, however, with striker Flo Bojaj turning the ball home for his fourth goal in as many appearances for the Under-18s.
Unfortunately Ipswich made it 2-1 on the stroke of the interval, with Willbye expertly bending a free-kick around the wall and inside the post to give his side the lead going into the interval.
Frankie Bunn and Tony Carss’ side restored the stalemate in the second-half when midfielder Ben Holmes curled a free-kick into the area from in front of the dugouts; the ball travelled 45 yards without getting a touch and dropped inside the far post!
