NOTT’M FOREST 1 TOWN U18s 2

Boyle and Booty net in superb win

Town’s Under-18 side made it two wins from two games in the new Professional Development League 2 season this morning courtesy of a superb 2-1 win at Nottingham Forest.

Nottingham Forest had a lot of possession during the first-half without ever hurting the young Terriers, but did take the lead in the 50th minute. Until that point Town had looked comfortable defensively and a threat on the counter.

However, Town’s Under-18s never gave in and sealed all three points with two goals in five minutes. The first came on the stroke of the 70th minute when substitute Jack Boyle cut in from the left side and took on a player, which resulted in the ball finding midfielder Ben Atkinson; he slipped it right for Under-16 midfielder Regan Booty, who dispatched a curling left-footed shot into the far corner from the edge of the penalty area.

The second came from a 75th minute corner. Jake Charles delivered the ball from the Town left and second year centre back William Boyle was on hand to head home – that’s two in two for the big defender.

Town’s Professional Development Coach Frankie Bunn told htafc.com:

“The players showed tremendous character – again. Sometimes in football you don’t get the result you deserve, but on Saturday they did.

“The team kept a great shape and showed a real work ethic. Their will and ethos that we’re never beaten showed again on Saturday.

“Nottingham Forest have a good reputation at Academy level; they’ve been doing things well for a long time. To go there and get a result is fantastic for the boys.

Town’s team (4-2-3-1):
Sam Guthrie; Mikey Starkey, William Boyle, Joe Wilkinson (c), Bradley Carroll; Ben Atkinson, Philip Billing; Jake Hanson (Jack Boyle 60), Jake Charles, Regan Booty; Rekeil Pyke (trialist 80)
