Next set of First Years unveiled at Academy Game
Huddersfield Town introduced the next set of Academy scholars during the half-time interval of Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game at home to Blackburn Rovers.
The Roses derby was used to showcase and highlight the work that is going on at the Club’s Academy, which is based at PPG Canalside.
As per previous years, next season’s scholars – the players who will graduate from the Under-16 group and begin their two year scholarships in the 2014/15 season – were revealed during the half-time interval.
Regan Booty (Defender/Midfielder)
First registered for the Academy as an Under-9, Regan is a pupil at Holmfirth High School. His Dad Martyn also played for and was on the coaching staff at Huddersfield Town. Regan has featured in the Under-18 Professional Development League 2 North this season and the FA Youth Cup run, scoring nine goals to date.
Jack Boyle (Midfielder)
First registered with the Academy as an Under-10 from Garforth Villa, Jack is a pupil at Boston Spa School. He has also featured in the Under-18 Professional Development League 2 this season.
Dylan Cogill (Defender)
A left-footed centre half, Dylan first registered with the Academy as an Under-9 from Gildersome Sports. He is a pupil at Bruntcliffe High School in Leeds.
Jacob Hanson (Defender)
A right back by trade, Jacob - a pupil at Shelley College – first registered with the Academy as an Under-13 from Kirkburton Juniors.
Adam Porritt (Midfielder)
Adam first registered with the Academy as an Under-13 from Howden. He is currently a pupil at Goole High School.
Rekeil Pyke (Striker)
Striker Rekeil first registered with the Academy as an Under-12 from Rothwell Juniors. He attends Carr Manor High School in Leeds and has featured in both the Under-18 Professional Development League 2 North and the FA Youth Cup this season.
Jamie Spencer (Midfielder)
A pupil at Brooksbank Sports College in Elland, Jamie first registered with the Academy as an Under-9 from Halifax Irish.
Some of Town’s other promising younger footballers took centre stage during the interval, with the Under-10 and Under-14 groups showcasing their skills on the John Smith’s Stadium pitch whilst their Under-11 colleagues show Town fans how it is done from the penalty spot!
Saturday’s match was also a ‘Club Focus’ game, with the gate boosted by attendees from Town’s Club Partners. As part of this scheme, Club Partners Clifton Rangers formed the prestigious Guard of Honour as both teams enter the field of play ahead of the referee’s whistle.

As well as the next generation of Town players, the next generation of Town fans were also at Saturday’s game thanks to the latest ‘Terrier 7s’ presentation of the season ahead of kick-off. This initiative sees local seven year olds come to the game and get presented with a replica shirt by a member of the Town squad, which on Saturday was January recruit Joe Lolley.
