REPORT: WATFORD 2-0 TOWN U23s

First Team quartet get minutes under their belts

- Town U23s lose 2-0 at Watford
- Billing, Paurević, Stanković & Coleman all play
- Two goals inside 20 minutes defeats the Terriers

Four members of David Wagner’s First Team squad got minutes on the pitch in the second game of Town’s Under-23 Professional Development League season at Watford on Monday afternoon.

For the second successive game, summer signing Ivan Paurević started in central midfield as an overage player. For this game he was joined by Philip Billing (pictured), with the young Dane continuing his recovery from the ankle injury sustained in the pre-season camp in Austria.

Goalkeeper Joel Coleman and centre back Jon Gorenc Stanković also started the game for the young Terriers.

Unfortunately, Bunn’s side was two goals down inside 17 minutes and never recovered in Hertfordshire.

The first goal came inside seven minutes, when young striker Michael Folivi was felled inside the penalty area. That gave fellow forward Alex Jakubiak the chance to beat Coleman from 12 yards, which he did.

Another set-piece did for the Terriers around 10 minutes later, with Dennon Lewis’ in-swinging corner flying into the net courtesy of a deflection off a body in the crowded penalty area.

Highlights of the game will appear on HTTV later this week.

Town’s team (4-2-3-1):
Joel Coleman; Jack Senior, Jon Gorenc Stanković, Jacob Hanson, Jordan Williams; Philip Billing, Ivan Paurević; Lewis O’Brien (Jamie Spencer, 75), Jake Charles (Jack Boyle, 46), Regan Booty; Rekeil Pyke

Unused subs:
George Dorrington, Fraser Horsfall, Danny Kane
