FOUR U23 PLAYERS SET TO DEPART TOWN

27 April 2017

Quartet of players will leave the Terriers

- Four U23 players set to depart Huddersfield Town
- Jamie Spencer, Sam Warde, Ronan Coughlan & Frank Mulhern leaving the Club
- New contracts to be offered to Fraser Horsfall and Dylan Cogill

Four members of Huddersfield Town’s Under-23 squad are set to depart the Club with their respective contracts expiring at the conclusion of the current season.

Midfielders Jamie Spencer and Sam Warde (pictured above), alongside attackers Ronan Coughlan and Frank Mulhern, are free to find other clubs with their contracts due to expire on 30 June 2017.

Centre backs Fraser Horsfall and Dylan Cogill will be offered new contracts and, should they accept, continue to work with Frankie Bunn’s Under-23 group next season.

The futures of goalkeepers George Dorrington and Tadhg Ryan are still under discussion.

Of the current Under-23 group, defenders Danny Kane and Romoney Crichlow-Noble; midfielders Deshane Dalling and Jack Boyle and striker Rekeil Pyke are under contract for the 2017/18 season.

Although regularly playing for the Under-23s this season, goalkeeper Luke Coddington and midfielder Regan Booty are members of David Wagner’s First Team squad.

Four second year scholars are to be offered their first professional contracts and will join the Under-23 group, whilst fellow second year scholar Lewis O’Brien has already signed his first deal and is a regular in Bunn’s squad.

Combative midfielder Spencer is the longest-serving of the departing quartet, having initially joined the Academy from local side Halifax Irish at Under-9 level. He has recently been on loan at Bradford Park Avenue.

Warde, a central midfielder, joined the Terriers from Irish side Mungret Regional ahead of the 2014/15 campaign and has subsequently featured for the Club’s Under-18 and Under-21 sides.

Irish striker Coughlan joined the Club’s Academy from Limerick FC in January 2014 and has been a regular in Frankie Bunn’s side ever since, but has been restricted to two starts and two substitute appearances this season due to an unfortunate run of injuries.

Mulhern joined Town in late February 2017 on a short-term contract running until the end of the campaign and started four PDL games before his season was ended prematurely by injury.
