Four goals from Barnsley striker Louis Rowe condemned Huddersfield Town’s Under-18s to a 4-2 defeat against their Yorkshire rivals in the Professional Development League.

Barnsley, the away side, got off to a better start at PPG Canalside and took the lead after just seven minutes. Rowe was played through the Town defence before coolly slotting the ball past ‘keeper Owen Brooke.

Denilson Carvalho was close to finding an equaliser for Town ten minutes later but he was denied after a superb block from a Barnsley defender.

In the 28th minute it was 2-0; Rowe again the scorer. He slotted the ball into an empty net following a mix-up at the back.

Three minutes before half-time, it was three. Rowe bagged his hat-trick after being fed through the Town defence once again.

On the stroke of the break the young Terriers pulled one back. Harry Clibbens whipped a tantalising cross into the box which was poked home by Cedwyn Scott.

In the 70th minute Barnsley scored their fourth. Romal Palmer drove into the box before pulling it back to Rowe who placed the ball past Brooke.

The goal of the game came in the 84th minute; Town’s Under-18s Captain Rarmani Edmonds-Green unleashed a thunderous drive on goal from 25 yards out, which flew into the top corner.

Highlights to appear on HTTV next week.
