Huddersfield Town’s Chief Executive Julian Winter has praised the impact that the home fans in the Chadwick Lawrence (South) Stand have had on the match day atmosphere ahead of Saturday’s game against Ipswich Town.

As has been the case at every home game so far this season, Town fans will once again share the Chadwick Lawrence Stand with away supporters at the weekend, with Season Card holders able to access that area of the ground using their existing cards on a first come, first served basis.

Those supporters, combined with the rest of the over 20,000 average gate, have watched David Wagner’s side win nine of 13 competitive home games so far.

“I’d like to begin by thanking every Huddersfield Town fan for their superb support at the John Smith’s Stadium this season,” Julian told htafc.com.

“The ‘12th man’ is much discussed term in football but, as David Wagner has spoken about on many occasions, there’s an incredible connection between our fans and players this season.

“There’s also no doubt about it; having Town fans behind both goals has made a big difference to the atmosphere at the stadium. The fans deserve all the credit for that, with fan-led initiatives from the North Stand Loyal group adding real colour and noise to our home matches.

“The NSL is the big success story from the ‘All Together Town’ initiative so far and I look forward to continued collaboration between fans and the Club, in particular our Supporter Partnerships department.

“If you are, or know, a Town fan who hasn’t been to a home game this season, I’d encourage a visit. It’s a totally different ball game!”

With an eye on the continued success of having home fans in the South Stand, Julian continued:

“I’m asking all Town supporters to keep up their support of the team, starting on Saturday.

“One thing we do need to be mindful of in that area of the ground is respecting the facilities, and other supporters. There’s no suggestion of vandalism of any kind, but some of our fans have been standing on seats and that’s led to genuine financial repercussions. So far this season, the Club and KSDL has had to foot a bill of almost £10,000 to replace seats in that area.

“That is not sustainable over the long term, in terms of repair and possible increased stewarding costs. I’d ask every Town fan to be mindful of this for everyone’s good moving forward; we cannot have small minority potentially spoiling the atmosphere and purpose of the South Stand section.

“I’m looking forward to seeing more #TerrierSpirit in the stands when the team takes on Ipswich this weekend!”
