LOAN: SCHOFIELD’S FC UNITED STAY EXTENDED

28 April 2017

England U18 international to finish season with FCUM

- Ryan Schofield extends his loan at FC United of Manchester
- England U18 international with club until 4 May 2017 inclusive
- Goalkeeper has made four starts in the Vanarama National League North

Huddersfield Town’s England Under-18 international goalkeeper Ryan Schofield has extended his Emergency Loan spell at FC United of Manchester for the rest of the 2016/17 season.

The 17 year-old custodian initially joined the Vanarama National League North club on 5 April for a week-long spell, but has subsequently stayed with his loan side and put in a series of impressive performances.

After keeping a clean sheet on his debut in a 0-0 draw at Bradford Park Avenue, Ryan made his home bow in front of nearly 3,000 supporters as FC United lost 2-1 to Brackley Town.

Schofield received the ‘Man of the Match’ accolade for his performance on his third start in  a 4-2 defeat at Darlington 1883, with the FC Utd website stating Ryan had, “no chance with the goals and (made) some sharp saves (to) keep the home side at bay.”

Ryan enjoyed the first win of his loan spell in his fourth and most recent start; a 4-1 victory on the road at Nuneaton Town.

Schofield, who signed his first professional contract at Huddersfield Town earlier this season, has now extended his Emergency Loan spell until 4 May 2017, which will allow him to play in the final game of the league season at home to Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday and the Manchester Premier Cup Final fixture against Stalybridge Celtic at Oldham Athletic’s Sports Direct.com Park on Thursday 4 May.
