Huddersfield Town’s Pedal for Pounds 8 cyclists have boarded the ferry at Rotterdam ahead of the final leg of ‘The Wagner Way’ tomorrow.

The ride, sponsored by Made By Cooper, saw around 135 people cycle 165 miles between Dortmund and Rotterdam over the space of two days.

After cycling from Dortmund to Nijmegen after a slight delay in receiving the bikes on Thursday 4 May 2017, the riders once again took to their bikes this morning ahead of an 88 mile journey back to Rotterdam, prior to catching the ferry back to Hull.

The teams set off between 7am and 7.30am on the second leg of ‘The Wagner Way’, with the Silver Team leading the way for the majority.

The riders were greeted by the support team on two occasions during the route to receive refreshments.

All 135 cyclists arrived at the Euro Port in Rotterdam at 5pm ahead of the 8.30pm departure back to Hull before taking on the final leg of the journey back to Huddersfield, ending at the Football Club's PPG Canalside Training Ground in a pie and peas celebration; around 80 miles in total.

The cyclists will be joined by more Town fans on that morning who are taking part in the shorter 'Hull to Home' leg of the ride, all in aid of the Keep It Up campaign.

The now traditional lap of honour will still take place at the final game of the season a day later when Wagner’s side hosts Cardiff City at the John Smith’s Stadium in a noon kick-off. Cyclists will meet up at PPG Canalside at 11am and travel to the stadium together.

In just over a week all 120 places were filled, with each cyclist committing to raise a minimum of £750 for the Keep It Up campaign!

Echoing David and Christoph’s route, cyclists will be asked to travel from Dortmund in Germany to Huddersfield Town to raise funds for the Keep It Up campaign, which generates funds for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Huddersfield Town Academy.

Club Ambassador Andy Booth commented:

“We are all delighted that this year’s Pedal for Pounds has been a success so far, the level of interest in ‘The Wagner Way’ has been totally unprecedented and everyone has thoroughly enjoyed the ride so far!

“We always work hard to make the rides different and I think the Wagner Way from Dortmund has captured the imagination of our supporters and around 135 cyclists.

“As always, we will regularly update you on Twitter (@htafcdotcom), YouTube and on htafc.com throughout the ride and remember you can still sponsor us!

“I would like to thank all the volunteers and staff that are volunteering their time as the smooth running of the ride so far wouldn't have been possible without them.”
