LOAN: DEMPSEY JOINS FLEETWOOD TOWN

29 August 2016

Midfielder departs to gain further experience

- Kyle Dempsey leaves Huddersfield Town on loan
- 20 year-old joins Fleetwood Town
- Comments from Head Coach David Wagner

Huddersfield Town midfielder Kyle Dempsey has today joined Sky Bet League 1 side Fleetwood Town on a Standard Loan.

The 20 year-old’s loan runs until the end of the current 2016/17 season, although the Terriers have the ability to recall the Cumbrian in January 2017.

Kyle joined Huddersfield Town in the summer of 2015 for an undisclosed fee from Sky Bet League 2 side Carlisle United, where he had just been named the Club’s ‘Player of the Year’.

Dempsey made 12 starts and 12 substitute appearances for the Club in his debut campaign, netting once, but hasn’t appeared in David Wagner’s First Team squad in the first six games of 2016/17.

He will now join Fleetwood Town under Head Coach Uwe Rösler, with the Club sitting eighth in the Sky Bet League 1 ladder after the first five games of the season.

Kyle is under contract at Huddersfield Town until the summer of 2018, with Town having an option on a further year’s extension.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner explained:

“Kyle is a talented young player and his development is very important to us. We cannot offer him regular football at the moment, but that is what he needs for his continued improvement now.

“I talked very honestly with Kyle about the possibility of a loan, but it was important that the Club he joined had to be right. Fleetwood plays a similar style of football to us and I believe Kyle will thrive in Uwe’s system.

“We’ll watch him very closely during his time with Fleetwood, where I am sure he will do very well.”
