Huddersfield Town has today completed the signing of England Under-21 international Kasey Palmer from Chelsea on a Standard Loan for the 2016/17 season.

19 year-old Kasey predominantly plays in the ‘number 10’ slot behind the main striker, but has also been deployed in the wide attacking areas too.

Having featured twice among Chelsea’s First Team substitutes towards the end of the 2015/16 Premier League campaign, Kasey was part of the England Under-21 squad that won the Toulon Tournament in May 2016.

He has also helped Chelsea win back-to-back FA Youth Cups and UEFA Youth Leagues in the past two seasons.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“I believe Kasey is one of the best young English talents and I think our supporters will enjoy watching him in the new Sky Bet Championship season.

“He is a very skilful player with good football intelligence and we now have the time to work hard with him in training to help him understand our identity on the pitch.

“As I said about Danny Ward recently, I believe we can help Kasey make the next step in his career and send him back to Chelsea a better player once the season is over. I would like to thank everyone at Chelsea for allowing Kasey to come to us.”

Born in Lewisham, London, Kasey grew up in Catford and started his football career in the Academy at Charlton Athletic.

He left the Addicks to join Chelsea as a 16 year-old midway through the 2012/13 season and began to play for the Club’s Under-18 side immediately, despite still being a schoolboy at the time.

Kasey won the Under-21 Premier League title with the Blues as he began to break into the side and he has subsequently added two FA Youth Cups and UEFA Youth Leagues to his honours during the last two campaigns.

In the first of the FA Youth Cup victories, Kasey scored against Town’s Under-18 side in a Fourth Round win at Aldershot’s Recreation Ground back in January 2015.

Last season he scored 16 goals in 30 combined appearances for Chelsea U21 & U18 sides; one of which secured the UEFA Youth League title in a 2-1 final win over Paris Saint-Germain.

Having signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge in February 2016, he was named on the bench for the First Team towards the end of 2015/16 under Guus Hiddink for Premier League games against Swansea City and Liverpool FC.

He was subsequently a member of the England Under-21 squad that won the Toulon Tournament for the first time in 22 years in May.

Palmer will wear the number 45 shirt during the 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship campaign.
