TRANSFER: IVAN PAUREVIC DEPARTS TOWN

10 January 2017

Midfielder set to return to Russian Football Championship

- Ivan Paurević departs Huddersfield Town
- Croatian midfielder made two HTAFC appearances
- Player likely to return to FC Ufa

Croatian midfielder Ivan Paurević has departed Huddersfield Town by mutual consent ahead of a permanent transfer to Rosgosstrakh Russian Football Championship club FC Ufa.

The 25 year-old joined Huddersfield Town from the Gorozhane in the summer transfer window, signing a three year contract.

He was well known to Town’s Head Coach David Wagner; he was a virtual ever-present in David’s Borussia Dortmund II side that won the Regionalliga West title in 2011/12.

However, he has made just two substitute appearances in league and cup for Town’s First Team; the most recent of which came on 9 August.

As a result, Paurević, who stands at just under 6’ 5” tall, has been released and is expected to complete a return to FC Ufa ahead of the new Russian football season. He previously made over 60 appearances for the Club over two seasons, scoring five goals.

Ivan’s release nullifies the future payments that were due from Huddersfield Town as part of the summer transfer.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner explained:

“Ivan has worked very hard in training every day since arriving at the Club in the summer, but he has found it hard to get a starting shirt because of the form of Aaron Mooy, Jonathan Hogg, Dean Whitehead and Philip Billing.

“We totally understand that Ivan wants to play regular football and this transfer will give him the chance to do that. He is a fantastic character and everyone here wishes him all the best at FC Ufa and for the future.”
