Two of Huddersfield Town’s young players are enjoying end of season success at their respective loan clubs as the 2016/17 campaign draws to a close.
On Wednesday evening, Development Squad centre back Fraser Horsfall played the full 90 minutes for Salford City in a 1-1 draw at home to FC Halifax Town in the first leg of the Vanarama National League North Play-Off semi-final.
This was Fraser’s third start for the Ammies since his late season loan move, but he’s already scored his first goal; that, along with an assist, came in a 5-1 home victory over Darlington 1883 in the final game of Salford’s regular season.
The second leg of the Play-Off semi takes place at the Shay on Sunday, with a 3pm kick-off.
This is Fraser’s third loan spell of the season; he’s moved up the non-league pyramid through time at Trafford FC and then Stalybridge Celtic.
Town recently confirmed that Fraser is one of the players who will be offered a new contract by the Club at the end of the current campaign.
Meanwhile, 17 year-old goalkeeper Ryan Schofield kept a clean sheet as FC United of Manchester won the Frank Hannah Manchester Premier Cup on Thursday evening, defeating Stalyrbridge Celtic 1-0 at Oldham Athletic’s SportsDirect.com Park.
In what was the sixth start of Ryan’s maiden loan spell, he kept Celtic at bay in front of 1,592 fans to cap off a tremendous year of personal achievement.
As well as signing a new professional contract with the Terriers, Ryan also made his England Under-18 debut this year, playing against Qatar in March – keeping another clean sheet.
