KACHUNGA MAKES HIS DR CONGO DEBUT

26 March 2017

24 year-old plays as second-half sub in Kenya

- Elias Kachunga makes DR Congo debut
- Attacker plays as sub in 2-1 defeat at Kenya
- 'Kache' now returns to HTAFC

Huddersfield Town attacker Elias Kachunga made his international debut for the DR Congo on Sunday afternoon in a 2-1 defeat in Kenya.

The 24-year old came on as a 78th minute substitute for the Leopards, playing the final 12 minutes wide on the right side in place of Junior Kabananga.

However, he was unable to prevent his side from losing 2-1 on the afternoon. Striker Michael Olunga, who plays in the Chinese Super League, scored both goals for the hosts, with DR Congo initially equalising in the second-half through former Chelsea youngster Gaël Kakuta.

‘Kache’, who was born in Germany but qualifies to play for the DR Congo through his father, Innocent, will now return to Huddersfield to prepare for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship game at home to Burton Albion.
