LOEWE: SIX STRAIGHT WINS IS ‘UNBELIEVABLE’

Chris Löwe praised the strength of Town’s entire squad after the players won a sixth straight Sky Bet Championship game on Tuesday night, beating fourth placed Reading 1-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The 27 year-old was one of nine players to come into the side and perform against a good Royals side, with the win sealed through Philip Billing’s first home goal for the Club.

“It was a very important win, as it opens up a little gap between us and Reading now. That is important. We are also only four points behind Brighton and Newcastle,” Chris admitted to htafc.com.

“Nothing really changed (from Saturday), because they played nearly the same formation as Man City. That made it easy for us to switch on; we knew what we had to do and I think we did it well.

“We were a bit unlucky in missing the penalty in the first-half. If we had scored that, the rest of the game could have been a bit easier. I’m not sure what happened, but it is in the past now; it’s gone. We won 1-0, so it doesn’t matter in the end. Everybody can miss a penalty. The important thing is the win.

“We still had belief that we could score late because we have done it over the whole season. Tonight we did it again, which was great for us.

“Phil has been in great form. He has played very well over the last weeks, especially against Man City on Saturday. Tonight he played well again and he deserved his goal.”

The German defender was particularly pleased to keep the Royals’ attack at bay.

“It’s always good for the goalkeeper and the back four when you get one – and a win.

“I thought we deserved the result tonight.”

Tonight’s victory made it six straight wins for the Terriers, and 11 wins from the last 13 league outings; a record that Chris is understandably proud of.

Löwe believes David Wagner’s rotation policy is one of the big factors behind the consistent level of performances since the start of December.

“I don’t think I’ve ever won six games in a row at my former clubs; it’s unbelievable. We have great momentum and we must try everything to keep that going for as long as possible over the next weeks. We will see what happens.

“We have a great team and squad together. We can bring fresh legs into a game always and I think that maybe that is the key to our success.

“We know that we have an unbelievable squad now. Nearly every player could play in every game, so it is important that we have fresh legs on the pitch for every match.

“I’ve had a few hamstring problems last week when we played Rotherham and Tareiq played well. I think he deserved to play against Man City. Now I am back in the starting eleven and I want to play as many games as possible, but I know I can’t play every one.”

Next up for the Terriers is Saturday’s game at Barnsley – and for Chris the target is clear.

“We have to recover as well as we can now and prepare for Barnsley. We’ll try to get the three points.”
