'Boothy’s Beer & Banter’ returns to PPG Canalside ahead of Town’s Sky Bet Championship game at home to Ipswich Town on Saturday 21 January.


Club Ambassador Andy Booth will be hosting 'Boothy’s Beer & Banter' and will be joined by former Manchester United, Millwall and Dallas Tornado shot stopper Alex Stepney.

Alex played for six clubs in his playing days and showed off his goalkeeping heroics in America when playing for Dallas Tornado, where he made 54 appearances.

The goalkeeper was part of the United side that became the first English club to win the European Cup in 1968, before being part of England’s World Cup squad in 1970.

After retiring from the game, Stepney went into coaching goalkeepers and had a spell at Manchester City during the 2000/01 season. He also works as an after-dinner speaker, and currently hosts ‘The Legends Football Phone-In’ on 105.4FM Century Radio in Manchester.

Fans can join Boothy and Alex ahead of the Ipswich Town match and ask questions, hear stories of their time in the game as well as take part in a quiz with prizes to be won!

‘Boothy’s Beer & Banter’ is free for all members and £2 on the door for non-members, to join PPG Canalside as a member costs £20 a year - you can join on the day or earlier to avoid queues.

Food is available on the day as well as drinks from the bar with real ales including; Theakston's Lightfoot and Timothy Taylor's Landlord. There are special offers on four pint pitchers of John Smith's Smooth, Fosters, Heineken and Rekorderlig – all at £10. Draught Strongbow is also available. There's even Town's own official beer, Hat Trick from Magic Rock!
