David Kasumu acknowledged that he and his team-mates have areas to improve upon following Huddersfield Town’s 3-1 defeat at Reading in the Sky Bet Championship.

When asked to sum up the game at the Select Car Leasing Stadium, Kasumu said:

“Very disappointing. I thought we started the game well and looked like we were competing, but when the goal went in from the set piece it flattened us a bit.

“I thought we were the better side in the second half; we were more positive, more attacking and kept the ball better but if you concede three goals it’s always going to be hard to get back into the game.”

The 22-year-old, who started in a central midfield two alongside Jon Russell, also reflected on the quality of Town’s opponents who sit third in the table:

“Reading are a good side. They’ve got a lot of physicality up top so the long balls and flick ons were really hard to defend, but we need to defend the box better and we shouldn’t be conceding three goals.

“We’ve only had a week with the new gaffer so it’s about building from that now and we go again Tuesday.”

That match on Tuesday 4 October is a trip to face Luton Town at Kenilworth Road, where David will be aiming for a fourth straight league start in Town colours.

Asked for his thoughts on the match, he said:

“It’s a very tough game away on a Tuesday night – everyone knows what kind of match it will be.

“We need to play like played in the second half today straight away and be positive, keep the ball better and take some more of our chances otherwise it’s going to be difficult to get results.”
