Huddersfield Town midfielder Alex Pritchard explained that the players are hurting after the defeat to Leeds United.

Town struggled to get into the game at the start, with the hosts proving an instant threat. Pritch admits that Leeds opening the scoring so early on was hard for the team to take.

“I think the boys are hurting a little bit, obviously it’s a derby and we bring all these fans who pay a lot of money and the whole team wants to deliver and unfortunately it didn’t happen.

“Credit to their first goal, it was a great goal, but I thought we did really well. As you can see, we’re a lot stronger mentally now and it’s just difficult to take.

“When you’re on the road and you lose, and we lost at home to them as well, they’ve done the double on us this year and it’s not nice, but we’ve got to bounce back now.”

Town fans sold out the away tickets at Elland Road, bringing an incredible blue and white crowd to support the Terriers.

“Not just today, but the supporters come to every game in their numbers and they give their all for us.

“All we can do right now is apologise, but we worked really hard today and they were just the better team.”

Pritch has been increasing his minutes with the Terriers following a knee injury that has seen him out for the majority of the season.

“It’s been really hard you know; it’s been really tough.

“Obviously you come back and then it’s not right, you train for a few weeks and it’s still not right, mentally it’s very tough.

“It’s good now to back on the training pitch and getting some game time and hopefully I can back it up and get fitter and fitter and just go from there.
