NEW RECRUITS FOR CARDIFF CITY

14 August 2014

A preview of Town’s game on Saturday

Town’s players could be up against a new-look Cardiff City side when they travel to Wales in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday.

Cardiff Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is reported to be looking at new defenders, with centre backs Ben Turner injured and Juan Cala currently suspended.

Over the last week, press reports have linked the Bluebirds with Danny Gabbidon – who is training with the Club – and former Town favourite Sean Morrison.

However, Solskjaer indicated after last night’s 2-1 Capital One Cup win at Coventry City that a move was unlikely before Town’s game at the Cardiff City Stadium this weekend.

Another player to be linked with Cardiff has big Town links – Anthony Pilkington. BBC Sport says ‘Pilks’ is on the verge of completing a move from Norwich City for an undisclosed fee.

It’s already been a predictably busy transfer window at Cardiff following the Club’s relegation from the Premier League last season. Out have gone Steven Caulker, Gary Medel, Jordon Mutch and Fraizer Campbell, but the incomings are also an impressive a list; strikers Adam Le Fondre, Federico Macheda and Javi Guerra; midfielders Guido Bergstaller, Tom Adeyemi and Kagisho Dikgacoi and goalkeeper Charlie Horton.

Dangerous winger Craig Noone is one player who won’t feature against the Terriers he’s out until September through injury.

Solskjaer played a much-changed side in their midweek cup win compared with the opening draw at Blackburn Rovers, when striker Kenwyne Jones netted the opening goal.

Cardiff’s team vs Blackburn (4-3-3):
David Marshall; Fabio, Mark Hudson, Matthew Connolly, John Brayford; Peter Whittingham, Aron Gunnarsson, Mats Moller Daehli; Nicky Maynard, Kenwyne Jones, Adam Le Fondre
