HUDDERSFIELD 1 PETERBOROUGH 1

Jack Hunt rescued a point for the Terriers in the first minute of injury time this afternoon as they extended their unbeaten run to 20 games.

Grant McCann had put Peterborough ahead in the 40th minute through a penalty and when Gary Roberts missed one for Town in the 85th it appeared that Town would suffer their first League defeat of the year. However, substitute Jack Hunt stepped up to the plate and scored a fantastic solo effort to give Town a share of the spoils.

Lee Clark reverted back to 4-4-2 this afternoon with Jordan Rhodes coming back into the side at the expense of Joey Gudjonsson. Gary Naysmith also returned to the fray following his injury.

Town almost fell behind in the opening minutes when Ian Bennett had to produce an excellent reaction save to deny George Boyd from six yards. The winger received the ball from David Ball who had started lively and got in behind Gary Naysmith down the left flank. The resulting corner was eventually cleared by Jamie McCombe at the second attempt.

Peterborough continued to dominate proceedings with George Boyd taking a snap shot from 20 yards in the 10th minute, however, it failed to test Bennett in Town's goal.

Town finally got the ball down in the Peterborough half in the eleventh minute and almost created an excellent opening for Benik Afobe. Some excellent interplay between Lee Peltier, Gary Roberts and Scott Arfield found Afobe 10 yards out - sadly the strikers touch let him down at the final moment and the chance went begging.

The Terriers were gradually growing into the game following their slow start and in the 21st minute Jordan Rhodes should have done better following a Jamie McCombe flick-on. Town's big centre back was up for a Lee Peltier throw-in, which he won comfortably and found Rhodes who failed to fit the ball with a clean contact.

Peterborough immediately hit back with midfielder James Wesolowski going close from 12 yards. His powerful effort skimmed Bennett's side netting following a Grant McCann knock down.

The Posh were causing a lot of problems for the Town backline and in the 26th minute Ball found space 25 yards out from Town's goal and rifled an effort which was well parried by Bennett with Naysmith sweeping up the danger.

An excellent piece of defending from Ryan Bennett prevented Scott Arfield opening the scoring for Town in the 28th minute. After switching flanks Danny Ward got in behind Grant Basey and swung a deep ball towards Roberts. Robbo met the ball with a half volley which was superbly kept out by Joe Lewis, however, his rebound fell to Arfield four yards out whose left-footed effort was blocked on the line by Bennett.

GOAL - Peterborough opened the scoring in the 40th minute through a Grant McCann penalty. Town had once again failed to close down the Peterborough attackers and after Lee Peltier miss kicked his clearance he brought down Mackail-Smith leaving referee Russell with very little choice but to award the Posh a penalty.

Town created a half chance as the game entered the 45 minute mark. Kevin Kilbane rose highest to a loose ball and nodded it down to Benik Afobe who was unmarked in the Posh penalty area. Afobe had to stretch to hit the ball and on his weaker left foot could not direct his effort on target.

HALF TIME TOWN 0 POSH 0

SUB - Lee Clark made a change during the half-time break - Danny Ward was replaced by Joey Gudjonsson. Clark's switch saw Arfield move on to the right wing and Gudjonsson into the centre of midfield alongside Kilbane.

The second half started in a fairly even fashion - a distinct difference to the first. Town were seeing plenty of the ball, however, they were unable to break down a resolute Posh defence. At the other end Mackail-Smith tested Bennett with a header from a Grant McCann free-kick.

BOOKING - Charlie Lee was the first player to go into the book in the 53rd minute. The full-back showed dissent to Mr Russell following his decision to give a free-kick against him.

BOOKING - Gary Naysmith followed Lee into the book minutes later when he was adjudge to have pulled back Mackail-Smith has he looked to break.

SUB - Clark made his second change of the game in the 62nd minute when Lee Novak was introduced into the fray at the expense of Jordan Rhodes.

Following Novak's introduction the Terriers were starting to look more lively and dangerous in attack. Roberts was finding himself on the ball a lot, however, the winger's crosses were failing to find a blue and white in the Posh box.

A marauding run from Afobe in the 72nd minute produced a fantastic low save from Joe Lewis. The on loan striker bundled and muscled his way past a number a Posh defenders before attempting to side foot a shot past Lewis. Sadly for Afobe, Lewis produced a fine low save to deny to 18 year-old.

SUBS - Darren Ferguson made his first change of the game in the 76th minute replacing Grant McCann with Aaron Davies. Also, Lee Clark made his final substitution introducing Jack Hunt for Joey Gudjonsson. Clark's enforced change meant that Hunt went out onto the right wing with Arfield moving back into a central position.

Town continued to pressurise the Peterborough backline and for the second time in a matter of minutes Lee Novak broke in behind Gabriel Zakuani following a neatly chipped ball from Roberts. Novak strode with intent onto Lewis' goal but failed to beat the Posh 'keeper who smartly parried away the effort.

SUB - The Posh made their second change of the game when Tommy Rowe made away for Nathaniel Mendez-Laing in the 84th minute.

Town missed the opportunity to draw level in the 85th minute when Joe Lewis smartly saved Gary Roberts' penalty. Substitute Jack Hunt had done superbly to win Town the penalty after drawing the foul from Wesolowski as he entered the penalty area. After a lot of discussion amongst the Town attackers Roberts shouldered the responsibility but failed to convert from 12 yards.

SUB - Darren Ferguson made his final change of the game introducing Chris Whelpdale for David Ball.

GOAL - Town equalised in the 91st minute in fantastic fashion through substitute Jack Hunt. The 20 year-old showed superb skill and speed to cut inside Grant Basey and from 18 yards smash home Town's equaliser with his weaker left foot.

Town continued to apply the pressure but failed to create another chance of note as the game ended in a draw.
